Ken Urker, partner of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, found dead in Louisiana home

Ken Urker, the partner of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, was found dead at his Louisiana home Thursday evening, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a home in Raceland around 6:15 p.m. and found Urker dead, the Lafourche Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The cause of death has not been revealed. But Blanchard, who welcomed a daughter with Urker in 2024, told People magazine that he overdosed. The magazine reported that he died on his 34th birthday.

Paris — French high school students lit fires outside schools and faced off with police on Friday as a protest movement that has forced the closure or disrupted education at more than 560 establishments showed no sign of abating. The movement, which began last week in the Paris region and rapidly spread nationwide, has seen teenage pupils in their final years of high school block access to buildings and clash with police. The students say their school hours are excessively long, conditions inadequate including overheated classrooms and dilapidated buildings, and that there are too many staff absences.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said Friday she believes the former Cornell University student who alleges she was gang raped by fraternity members in 2024 was “failed by people and institutions with an obligation to protect her,” including a county prosecutor. “I will not allow anyone to sweep this case under the rug,” Hochul told reporters at a Friday morning news conference in New York City.
