Protesters blame 'vulture funds' for Spain's housing crisis

Pierina Nicuray, a 21-year-old university graduate, has spent a week camped out in Madrid's Puerta del Sol square.

Like many of the hundreds of others who have pitched their tents here to protest at Spain's housing crisis , she has no doubts when it comes to diagnosing the cause.

She adds: "Landlords are taking advantage of the situation to raise rentals, and then there's also Airbnb."

'Fighting for our future': France high school students vow no let-up

Over 70,000 people took part in demonstrations across France on Thursday demanding better education and less police brutality, as students protested nationwide despite government attempts to ease a crisis that has rocked the country for more than a week. Students have blocked entrances to hundreds of high schools, with squads of riot police deployed -- occasionally resulting in violent clashes. The interior ministry said 71,500 participated in protests across the country, with police detaining more than 500 people. FRANCE 24's Claire Paccalin reports…
