Ithaca council passes moratorium on new Cornell events permits

The Ithaca Common Council voted Wednesday night to pass a temporary moratorium on special events permits at Cornell University and called on the school to hand over investigations into "violent sex crimes" to the Ithaca Police Department.

The moratorium will apply to Cornell University, its residential and nonresidential sorority and fraternity organizations, general student organizations, and university student affiliations, according to Ithaca's mayor, Robert Cantelmo.

Protesters ejected from raucous Trump rally in Texas

At least 18 hecklers were removed from President Trump's rally in Texas late Wednesday, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office confirmed. The hecklers were ejected from the venue by authorities or appeared to walk out after interrupting the rally, drawing jeers from the crowd at San Antonio's Freeman Coliseum as Mr. Trump mocked the protesters. The sheriff's office said they did not make any arrests, and all individuals were asked to leave the premises. Two people were issued criminal trespass warnings, the sheriff's office said.
