'Not again': Arrest of US marine for murder reignites protests in Japan's Okinawa

For many Okinawa locals, the arrest of a US soldier accused of robbing and killing a woman in a hotel room has reignited decades of frustration over crimes involving US military personnel there.

"Honestly my first reaction was, 'Not again,'" 52-year-old longtime Okinawa resident Ai Sato told the BBC.

"Nothing has changed since I was a child. How many times are we going to repeat the same thing, create more victims, cause their families to suffer, and ultimately, cause the people of Okinawa to grieve?"

France, Germany seek new EU rapid response tool against trade threats

France and Germany proposed a new legal tool to enable the EU to respond rapidly to trade wars or measures, such as dumping, that could economically harm the bloc. While French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the proposal was not a direct response to the actions of any particular country, it came days before EU Chief Ursula von der Leyen visits China to tackle trade fictions.

FlyDubai co-pilot planned to crash jet into Israeli airport, official says

The Omani co-pilot who allegedly attempted to hijack a FlyDubai flight to Israel told interrogators in the United Arab Emirates last week that he planned the attack even before he was employed by the Emirati airline more than a year ago, according to an Israeli official. He had intended to crash the FlyDubai jet into Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, the official said, adding that the co-pilot, who multiple sources familiar with the investigation have identified to CBS News as Omani national Hamam al Hamami , had flown to Israel in the past.
