Washington State Democratic Congressman Adam Smith received a "suspicious letter containing a powdery substance" on Monday, according to a statement from the congressman's office, making the lawmaker the latest in a growing list of politicians who have received similar letters.

"Earlier today, my district office received a suspicious letter containing a powdery substance, like others sent to Congressional offices across the country," Smith said in a statement to ABC News. "My staff has been safely evacuated, and I thank the Kent Police Department and the Renton Fire Department for their quick action."

Triumphal Arch final plans submitted to National Capital Planning Commission

The Department of Interior has submitted its final plans for President Donald Trump’s proposed Triumphal Arch to the National Capital Planning Commission for its review, including updated traffic and lighting plans. The placement of the eternal flame is also required by the Federal Aviation Administration after its safety review of the proposed structure, making it visible to pilots. The FAA determined last month that the structure would not pose a hazard to aircraft flying in the area. The agency initially said the arch would require "red obstruction lights" for aviation safety.

Trump uses antisemitic slur in defending Sen. Roger Marshall at rally in Kansas

President Donald Trump used an antisemitic slur Monday in defending Sen. Roger Marshall , R-Kan., after an article said he sued hundreds of patients over unpaid debts when he was a practicing physician. Speaking at a campaign rally in Kansas, Trump said the reporting made Marshall, who is not Jewish, out to be “some kind of a shylock-type guy,” using a term widely recognized as offensive toward Jewish people. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Trump’s remarks.
