The Trump administration will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to allow it to continue swiftly deporting immigrants to third countries that are different from their country of origin, Attorney General Todd Blanche said on Thursday. Blanche's announcement follows a federal appeals court ruling on Wednesday that cleared the way for a lower court decision blocking the rapid removal of migrants to third countries without a "meaningful opportunity" to contest their deportations.

Former Arizona Sen. A pediatric critical care doctor was stabbed to death and a woman was stabbed and critically injured by a suspect who allegedly attacked them while they were asleep, authorities in Pennsylvania said. Officers responded around 12:30 a.m. Thursday to a home in Edgewood, just outside of Pittsburgh, where they found Dr. Idris Evans and a woman both suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to the Allegheny County Police Department. Evans, 46, was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead, while the woman was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
