Trump rules out joint US-China venture to develop AI

Trump says U.S. and Iranian negotiators are talking via mediators, but insists he has "offered them NOTHING" to get a peace deal done.

Fatima Zahra El Mansouri has been named Morocco's first female prime minister, after her centrist Authenticity and Modernity Party (Pam) won the most seats in last week's parliamentary elections. Her appointment makes her only the second woman to lead a government in the Arab world, after Tunisia's Najla Bouden. She was named by King Mohammed VI, who chose her as prime minister over the country's football chief Fouzi Lekjaa, a top politician from the same party. El Mansouri, 50, has been the mayor of Marrakesh for a number of years and also served as a minister in the previous coalition government.

The chief executive of the company that runs the Eiffel Tower will step down after a backlash over female staff being replaced by male colleagues during a visit by a Hindu religious group. Patrick Branco Ruivo, who has been director general of the Paris landmark since 2018, will leave his job at the end of the year, the company SETE said in a statement. It said an internal investigation found that "operational flaws and shortcomings" in organising the visit led to the "unacceptable" removal of female staff.

Hurricane Polo made landfall in Baja California overnight and is expected to make a second landfall on the mainland of Mexico on Tuesday. Polo slammed the Baja California Peninsula near Las Barrancas as a Category 2 hurricane, packing dangerous winds of 96 to 110 mph. After making landfall around 11 p.m. local time, Polo was downgraded to a Category 1 storm as it trekked across the Baja and took aim at the Sonora region of mainland Mexico.
