Immigration agents search congresswoman Ilhan Omar's home

US immigration agents have searched the home of Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar as part of a criminal investigation. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents "executed a judicially authorised search warrant" for the property in the Washington DC area, a US justice department spokesperson said. The search "is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation", the spokesperson said, but no further details were given. The US Congress is currently out of session and it is unclear if Omar was at home.

Rep. Omar's D.C. home searched by DHS investigators

Rep. Ilhan Omar 's Washington, D.C., home was the target of a raid early Monday morning by ICE's investigations unit. Sources say the investigation centers on Omar's immigration paperwork. The documents in question date back to Omar's childhood, involving paperwork completed by her late father when she was a child. Omar's office said in a statement that Omar had "done nothing wrong" and called the raid an "outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies."
