An OpenAI employee suspected of secretly planting a recording device in one of the company's conference rooms has been arrested on criminal charges, the Justice Department said Tuesday. Abdulrahman Alfozan, 35, a Saudi national, was arrested Friday and made his initial appearance in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Tuesday. Alfozan was charged with trying to use an electronic, mechanical, or other device to intercept oral communications. Prosecutors said that Alfozan had worked at OpenAI as an engineer since July 2025.

Trump administration officials are leaning against livestreaming the execution of the ex-Army major convicted of the killing of 13 people at Fort Hood in 2009, sources familiar with the discussions said. Last week, the Pentagon had said that the public would be able to view the execution live. President Trump had not yet made a final decision on Tuesday, two of the sources told CBS News. There has been pressure from Congress and elsewhere not to livestream Nidal Hasan's execution by firing squad , which is scheduled to take place on Dec. 3.

Potential jurors in the federal trial of Payton Gendron, who is already serving a life sentence in state prison for killing 10 Black people in a 2022 racially motivated attack at a Buffalo, New York, supermarket, are being questioned by attorneys on Tuesday about their opinions on the death penalty. Gendron, 23, is charged in a 27-count federal indictment that includes 10 counts of hate crimes resulting in death. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges after the Department of Justice rejected his proposal to plead guilty in exchange for them not seeking the death penalty.

At least two men attending President Donald Trump’s rally in Ohio attacked a female protester in a “senseless” confrontation decried by the mayor of Youngstown on Tuesday. A pair of males, one in an adjustable baseball cap and a bald man in a dark t-shirt, put hands on a woman Monday during the GOP event inside Covelli Centre in Youngstown, multiple videos of the incident showed. The man in a blue baseball cap pawed at the woman, wearing a shirt reading “Release the Epstein Files ,” and pushed her down before the balding man jumped on her.
