Hedgehog among four chosen animals to feature on new banknotes

Banknotes are getting a nature makeover - and the Bank of England has revealed the four creatures that will feature on our money.

The Atlantic puffin, barn owl, buff-tailed bumblebee and European hedgehog will appear on the redesigned notes in years to come - although no decision has been made about which animal will be shown on which banknote.

The owl, bumblebee and hedgehog topped a public vote in their specific categories, and the puffin was included to celebrate marine life, the coastline and bring variety to the notes, the Bank said.

Passengers who paid thousands of pounds for European river cruises with Tui have described their anger after their itineraries changed to involve hours spent on coach trips instead. Several have told the BBC they believe they should get some money back, but have been offered no refund.
