Iliana Yotova wins runoff to become Bulgaria’s first elected female president

As Republicans touted Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens' 11th-hour endorsement of GOP Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers, Democrats downplayed its impact and pointed to the fundraising surge it generated for Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed. President Donald Trump called it an "act of bravery" and that it showed "great loyalty to Michigan." GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson said, "I think Haley did a heroic and important thing for the country." But El-Sayed's campaign said it brought in $2.4 million in the hours after Stevens' endorsement, its best-ever fundraising day.

Earlier Monday, the Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to order California election officials to set aside mail ballots from 20,000 people it alleges are noncitizens.

Nine people have been killed after a small jet crashed and exploded in Florida on Sunday. The Learjet 60 was bound for the Bahamas from Austin when it nosedived into a multi-lane highway. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating whether ice and turbulence contributed to the crash, and whether human error played a role.

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer was charged with a felony for allegedly hitting a man with a vehicle earlier this month.
